capt's jimmy gahm and sean carton took long time customers kevin mcarthy and anthony rinaldi of staten island, ny and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon. after 10 days of hard winds we finally got back out to the grounds. we were very tempted to stop inshore at the bluefin grounds but we heard nothing positive at all. upon reaching the hudson a good friend let us know that he had spent the night in the squid boats and didn't have a touch...ouch! we decided to find the break and warm water, which we did on the southwest corner. once again we trolled to no avail. we set up early on the chunk in calm seas, and 69 degree water, with high hopes. kevins' goal to to boat a nice sword. by 9:30 we had two small yellowfins and 3 mahi on board and things looked promising, THEN THE FAN CAME ON.. HARD!. with winds whipping up to 30 knots it was difficult to fish as the baits were getting pulled off by

the rough seas. we did mangage to release a small swordfish and boat another tuna. it was very tough conditions to say the least, we missed a few other bites, but the guys were outstanding. arriving back at the dock, they were all smiles, perhaps they were happy to be on good ol' terra firma.
