capt's jimmy gahm and kevin gerrity were back at it sunday june 27th for mako mania, with long time tuna jigger jamie and his possie. capt jimmy went right back to where we had em on saturday but after a long morning it was obvious, no one was home. capt kevin reached into his bag of knowledge and picked a spot 14 miles to the west, after about an hour the right one came knocking. the mako smoked kevins' finger and leaped 12' in the air coming down on the main line and it was game over. jimmy and kevin estimated the fish well over 300lbs, a contender to say the least. shortly thereafter the very silent crew and boat headed for the barn. as always jaimie called the next day to commend jimmy and kevin's tireless efforts and putting them on what could have been the winning fish. there is a certain amount of luck in landing these monster's, our hats go off to big boy and all the place winners. as for the jenny lee, we will now focus all of ourĀ time offshore looking for tuna and whatever else bites our lines.
capt's kevin gerrity and dave bender took john sieberg of nyc and friends out for a day of shark fishing in the 2010 mako mania tournament. we headed east about 6am and about 11am had a steady pick of sharks ranging from 200lb blue sharks to 4 makos. sam vandervroot of holmdel caught our largest mako, an estimated 150lb'r. it was sam's fist mako and i'm sure not her last. we debated boatside on taking this shark, but after discussing our options we decided to take a nice fish for the table. it was a beautiful day with some nice action, hopefully everyone had as good a time as kevin and i .
