capt's kevin gerrity and dave bender took chris and will glassford of syracuse,ny and friends on their annual overnighter on august 25, 2009. we started a few hours earlier with the intention of doing some inshore bluefin fishing before heading for the edge. when we arrived at " little italy" we heard that it was an early bite and it was slow. we gave it about 45 minutes and headed offshore to our next stop, about another 30 miles. upon arriving in the fleet we heard once again that it was slow, but we gave it our best effort. after about an hour chris wanted to head to the deep, so off we went. the afternoon troll was slow although we missed a white and finally connected with three keeper yellowfins. upon setting up for the night we had great bait readings and had our hopes up, at about 11pm or so we had a tuna bite and it was game on. after a nice fight chris and his pal had landed an awesome 60lb yellowfin, after looking at the litttle ones, this one looked like a monster. we worked realy hard all night looking for his pals, but all we had for our efforts was a mahi and some blue sharks till about 5am when mr mako came on a tuna bait. after two awesome jumps he was straight up and down and you know the rest. the morning troll was really sloppy to say the least, we had a white marlin on for a while including 2 airial displays only to lose him after about 5 minutes. another two hours in the slop and chris said" head for the barn capt"
